Helped by good customer service, it earned a 93.0% satisfaction rating – the highest of all nine brands in our survey. The promptness of installation was joint best',

It is certainly safe to say that in the last half a decade the EV market has matured at a rapid rate. Just a cursory glance at any car comparison site will now allow prospective customers to browse many hundreds of different EV models and specifications, when just a handful of years ago this was in the single figures. And the motoring press have had to adapt to these changing times, not just by ensuring that their journalistic and editorial staff are equipped to deal with the flood of new models and brands, but the myriad of support services that accompany EVs.

WhatCar? have long been the go-to place when it comes to like-for-like car specification comparisons. For nearly 20 years their online comparison tool has empowered drivers to make smart and data driven decisions about their new purchases. But in 2023, their reach is now expanding to encompass the sometimes mirky world of EV charging, the part of the EV buying journey that some 60% of potential buyers now state is their number one area of anxiety according to EY. Over the past months their team have put the many dozens of EV chargers on the UK market to the test, and have shortlisted just three.

That's why we at Hypervolt are honoured to have been named among WhatCars? Top 3 Home Chargers in Claire Evans' May editorial. Pipping Myenergi's Zappi to second place, and only losing out on victory due to price (as the adage goes however, buy-one buy-well), the Home 2.0 was lavished with praise for its tethered setup, market leading customer service, and ease of install and acquisition.

‘The charging has been flawless'

WhatCars? tester Matt Evans said of the Home 2.0 'I chose a Hypervolt unit on the recommendation of a local electrician and because the online reviews were good. The other important factor for me was that it can be supplied with a 10m-long integrated lead, which is crucial because it means I can lay it where I need across the garden without it being a trip hazard. The survey for the unit was done on a video chat and the installation took place just three weeks later. There are no controls on the box, but it does change colour to show what it’s doing. The charging has been flawless'.

Hypervolt's Head of Partnerships David Woodford noted 'we firmly won where it matters , in end user customer testimonials, something we're incredibly proud of. Upfront cost can be a bit of a fallacy as our chargers are designed to sit on the customer's home for a good number of years, integrating with solar and providing a wealth of analytics. Whole life cost is what concerns our customers.'

We can't wait for them to put Home 3.0, launched on January 1st, to the test now.
