The past 24 months have seen an influx of new marques to Britain's roads from the far-east, with a significant emphasis on new battery electric model. At the same time, many European and North American OEMs have been conflicted on whether to put both feet in the EV ring, with bold commitments either being curtailed, or dropped entirely. More positively, EV models themselves have either reached, or are close to reaching, price parity against their ICE counterparts, but this has taken time, and Chinese manufacturers in particular have seemingly have filled the demand gap for affordable EVs with a 200+ mile range. 

A notable entrant into that category is the Skywell BE11, unveiled to the British renewable public at Everything Electric North in May, offering that magic formula of a 200+ mile EV range, D-segment family proportions, at a sub £40,000 list price. Distributed in the United Kingdom, and other right-hand drive European markets, by the team at Innovation Automotive, it joins their broader line up of budget-friendly EV models from brands such as DFSK, and Seres, becoming the hot-bed for fresh EV models, segment spanning from passenger cars to the oft neglected LCV BEV category.
