In a our case study, pitting the EV and petrol Volvo XC40s against each other, the average UK driver would anticipate to save over £1,100 a year with OVO Charge Anytime

Hypervolt are delighted to announce that our market leading range of EV chargers are now compatible with OVO’s specialist EV charging add-on, Charge Anytime, at 7p/kWh. The new partnership means Hypervolt customers are now able to charge their vehicles at home for around 2p per mile1.

Hypervolt is the UK’s preeminent domestic EV charging brand, approaching 100k charging units installed in UK homes. It was also crowned ‘Best Home Charger’ in the 2023 DrivingElectric Awards, with the brand being named Cleantech Winner in Deloitte’s Fast50 2023 and a Deloitte EMEA Technology Fast 500 Winner 2023. Hypervolt is dedicated to making EV charging more accessible, efficient, and integrated with renewable energy solutions, through its UltraGrid platform. OVO’s strong EV credentials and commitment to sustainability via its Plan Zero mission, makes it the perfect partner for Hypervolt, bringing affordable charging to all existing and future customers.

OVO’s Charge Anytime add-on has enabled customers to save over £7.5 million since its launch in 2023. Powered by Kaluza’s smart software, the add-on works by automatically optimising cars to charge when emissions and prices are low. EV drivers can access the discounted charging rate at any time of day or night, and drive for just £190 per year2 with Charge Anytime, making it one of the UK's most competitive charging tariffs. On top of this, Hypervolt boasts market leading solar and battery storage integration ability, including anti-battery drain prevention, maximising customers savings and crucially, minimising their CO2e footprints.

We've taken one of our favourite EVs as a case study, the Twin Motor Volvo XC40 Recharge. This phenomenally efficient family EV's running cost on OVO Charge Anytime equates to just 1.78 p/mile. Compare that to its petrol variant, the B4 AWD, which achieves just 39.8 mpg3, equating to colossal 16.9 p/mile4. Extrapolating that over the course of a year, where the average British driver cover 7,400 miles5, this gives us a fuel running cost of £1,318.20 for petrol, and just £138.84 for EV, a phenomenal £1,179.36 annual saving.

OVO’s Director of EV, Alex Thwaites said: ‘'OVO is committed to accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and this partnership will help do just that by extending affordable charging to more customers than ever before. This is good news for EV drivers and is also part of our wider commitment to helping customers cut costs and carbon.”

Hypervolt’s Head of Partnerships, David Woodford said: “Hypervolt is a culture of advocates, each and every member of our team is highly motivated to aid in Britain’s journey to net-zero. Everything done over the past three years feeds into building a platform to enable individuals, families and organisations to make meaningful steps in cutting their carbon footprint. Our partnership with OVO is a testament to this commitment, which will see our customers truly rewarded for having an EV.”

Kaluza’s Director of Global Partnerships, Fabian Teichmueller said: “Charge Anytime has grown at an impressive pace over the past year and now enables tens of thousands of customers to charge their EV more easily and affordably. This partnership will bring an innovative charging experience to even more OVO customers. We’re delighted to add Hypervolt to Kaluza’s growing global ecosystem of charge point manufacturers and automaker partners.”
