According to a stat by Business Matters just 19% of the UK's automotive workforce is female, but this is very rapidly changing. Thanks to the advent of electrification and decarbonisation, disruptive young companies are overhauling decades of convention within the motor trade, creating meritocracies where true talent and creativity can rise to the top, and this is exactly what has happened at Hypervolt.
This year's Top Women in EV, an event organised by Ade Thomas' Electric Drives, brings together those female change-makers from across the motor trade who are working tirelessly to arrest the pace of climate change, culminating for 2024 at a dazzling event at Tesla's Birmingham hub on March 7th, and one of those finalists comes from right here at Hypervolt HQ.
Jennifer Amores, our Head of Retail and Accounts, has led the sales operations team from its inception in 2021. Noted for her phenomenal work ethic, she is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and driving the transition to electric vehicles with sustainable, high-tech charging solutions. Her unwavering commitment echoes our mission to make the EV transition seamless, our Head of Partnerships, David Woodford, states 'she's a force of nature and undoubtedly a cornerstone of Hypervolt's success. The hardest working person in the room.'
In her own words, 'The automotive market has always been led by men, however, we are now in a great position to change this. The EV industry is rapidly growing and becoming a reality for more and more people and, therefore, for women and I believe this is a great opportunity for us to make the so needed change. The industry is constantly bringing new opportunities to everyone involved and why not give those opportunities to women? I’m extremely lucky to work in a company like Hypervolt, where we are seen for what we bring to the table rather than for where we come from or our gender; we’re rather seen as individuals who can help the company succeed and this is exactly what’s needed within the e-mobility sector, more companies that support their female employees and help them develop their careers from the bottom all the way up to the top, to leadership positions. Like I said, I am truly grateful to work where I do and the more of us there are driving the market, the more women we will see driving EVs, starting their careers, building empires within the industry and who knows what else, there is genuinely not limits to what a woman can do.'
So a huge congratulations from Team Hypervolt to Jen and all the phenomenal and inspiring women who were nominated for this year's Top Women in EV 2024.
